I began my career with KCU in 2016 as a Contact Center Representative. I always enjoyed the reward of helping people and working in the contact center afforded me that opportunity in more ways than I could have imagined. Whether it was assisting members with a simple request or letting them know more about our products and service, I loved being that familiar, friendly voice that could make a difference in their day or in their lives. It was immensely gratifying. I knew right away that I wanted to grow with KCU, and the Contact Center was, in my opinion, the best place to start. The role equipped me with invaluable interpersonal and troubleshooting skills. It allowed me to learn a little about everything in the organization and gain a unique perspective about how we function as a KCU team. After about a year, I took an opportunity with the loan processing team.
As a Loan Processor, I was responsible for ensuring smooth and successful loan fundings once all the details of a loan were worked out by the member and Lending Specialist. This role was another great fit in my journey at KCU as I was able to learn more about the technical aspects of our operation, systems and processes that make our business possible. I learned to handle more detail-oriented work, which helped me transition to my current role: Systems Analyst-Lending.
As a Systems Analyst, it is my job to ensure that all our technologies are running smoothly to allow our teams to do their jobs most efficiently. This is the kind of work that I always wanted to do, to work with systems and technology and be at the forefront of our evolution and expansion into more sophisticated ways of providing value to our teams and members. Every day grants new opportunities to learn something new or to create something valuable and it’s by far my favorite position I’ve held at KCU.
So, after 8 years, why do I continue to work at KCU? KCU has presented me with countless opportunities for both personal and professional growth. There were never any walls or roadblocks that stifled my natural development in the organization. If you have the ambition to do something more at KCU, they help you get there and put you on track to meet your goals. All my team members and leaders are the kindest and most supportive group of people I’ve ever known. I genuinely love what I do, and a large part of that is due to being surrounded by a culture and a team that makes me feel that my voice and contributions matter.
