Our Culture

We build our culture around “The KCU Advantage.” This philosophy defines how we serve our members, employees, and communities. It recognizes that employees are the heart and soul of our organization, demonstrates the power of our team, provides a blueprint for how we add value to every member we serve and emphasizes our dedication to our neighbors and community.

Our Mission: Building Relationships. Strengthening Communities. Fulfilling Dreams.

We understand that setting a mission is one thing, but living it out is another. From our inspiring leaders to our awesome employees, we’ve created a culture that embodies our mission. Because to make dreams happen for our members, we’ve got to make them happen for each other first.

Building Relationships

We may be a credit union, but we are in the business of people. We know our members by name, and they know us. These connections aren’t just transactions. Every chat, high-five, and laugh with our team is a chance to grow stronger together. Relationships are the heart of everything we do, for our members and for each other.

Strengthening Communities

As we build these relationships, we also strengthen our communities. We live and work here, so we are vested in seeing our local communities thrive.  We work hard to enrich the lives of our members so that they can contribute to the strength and success of our communities.

Fulfilling Dreams

Every day, our employees have the opportunity to fulfill our members' dreams. Whether it’s seeing our members drive off in their dream car, step into their new home, or send their kids to college, we are part of helping them reach those milestones. We hope to be a place where our employees can shape their dreams and potential, and make it happen!

Cornerstones of Our Workplace Culture

We’re all about lifting each other up, and creating a place where every teammate feels empowered, inspired, and ready to do great things for each other, our members, and our community.

WHAT OUR EMPLOYEES HAVE TO SAY...

Career Spotlights

Brian, Systems Analyst

I began my career with KCU in 2016 as a Contact Center Representative. I always enjoyed the reward of helping people and working in the contact center afforded me that opportunity in more ways than I could have imagined. Whether it was assisting members with a simple request or letting them know more about our products and service, I loved being that familiar, friendly voice that could make a difference in their day or in their lives. It was immensely gratifying. I knew right away that I wanted to grow with KCU, and the Contact Center was, in my opinion, the best place to start. The role equipped me with invaluable interpersonal and troubleshooting skills. It allowed me to learn a little about everything in the organization and gain a unique perspective about how we function as a KCU team. After about a year, I took an opportunity with the loan processing team.

As a Loan Processor, I was responsible for ensuring smooth and successful loan fundings once all the details of a loan were worked out by the member and Lending Specialist. This role was another great fit in my journey at KCU as I was able to learn more about the technical aspects of our operation, systems and processes that make our business possible. I learned to handle more detail-oriented work, which helped me transition to my current role: Systems Analyst-Lending.

As a Systems Analyst, it is my job to ensure that all our technologies are running smoothly to allow our teams to do their jobs most efficiently. This is the kind of work that I always wanted to do, to work with systems and technology and be at the forefront of our evolution and expansion into more sophisticated ways of providing value to our teams and members. Every day grants new opportunities to learn something new or to create something valuable and it’s by far my favorite position I’ve held at KCU.

So, after 8 years, why do I continue to work at KCU? KCU has presented me with countless opportunities for both personal and professional growth. There were never any walls or roadblocks that stifled my natural development in the organization. If you have the ambition to do something more at KCU, they help you get there and put you on track to meet your goals. All my team members and leaders are the kindest and most supportive group of people I’ve ever known. I genuinely love what I do, and a large part of that is due to being surrounded by a culture and a team that makes me feel that my voice and contributions matter.

Lucas, Branch Manager

I joined Kohler Credit Union as a Member Service Representative. With a background predominantly in retail, I was eager to transition into the financial industry. My passion for connecting with customers found a more impactful outlet in my role at Kohler Credit Union. I really enjoyed the opportunity to assist members with things like opening their first checking accounts, explaining digital banking, and hearing stories from long-standing members about their experiences with the Credit Union.

After a little over a year in the Member Service Representative role, I was presented with the opportunity to become the Branch Manager at the Saukville location. Initially, I was hesitant about taking a management role. However, the supportive environment here and the company’s commitment to its employees reassured me that I could be confident in taking on new challenges and I was happy to be proven correct!

Having served as Branch Manager for nearly two years, I am continually grateful for my decision to take on this opportunity. Kohler Credit Union has provided me with invaluable experiences that are unmatched elsewhere. The organization has allowed me to serve on the Saukville Chamber of Commerce, engage in community volunteer work, and forge lasting relationships I will cherish throughout my career!
